Blooming Flower Fan Dance | Beauty of Jasmine

In this video, students from the Lexington (Kentucky) Chinese Music, Dance and Arts Program (CMDAP) perform “Blooming Flower,” a Chinese fan dance. The Blooming Flower Fan Dance is a folk dance in the ceremonial/artistic tradition. The costumes, hairstyles, and fans combine with the choreography to create a mood of lighthearted joy as the dancers represent flowers emerging from the ground, swaying in the wind, and opening their faces to the sun. This resource is part of the Beauty of Jasmine collection.

Flor de Piña | Dance Arts Toolkit

Flor de Piña or "Flower of Pineapple" is a folk dance with indigenous origins from the city of Tuxtepec in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. This version of Flor de Piña was performed by Casa de Cultura Hispana de Lexington at the Festival del Día de los Muertos in Lexington, Ky.

Find out just how odd things get in this hilarious New York Times bestselling story of time travel and breakfast cereal, expertly told by Newbery Medalist and bestselling author Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Skottie Young.
