The concept of geologic time is discussed, and highlights of the four major geologic eras are described. Live action footage filmed on location reveals ways scientists uncover clues about geologic events. Changes in Earth's life and climate are addressed.

Earth's Changing Surface:

The geologic history of Earth is a fascinating one. This program highlights some of the most significant geologic events in Earth's history. The process of plate tectonics over time is explained via engaging animations. Contemporary footage from throughout the world illustrating volcanic activity, mountain building, and deposition helps students understand past geologic events.


Fossils provide a window through which we can peer into the past. This program illustrates the different processes by which fossils are formed, what fossils tell us about the past, and how scientists interpret fossils. On location footage takes students to major fossil dig locations.

Geology of North America:

North America's geology and topography is a fascinating and beautiful story. This video captures footage from throughout the continent to tell this captivating story. Major geological events such as the formation of the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains, the advance and retreat of glaciers, and major volcanic eruptions are highlighted.

Filmed on location: Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley, Bryce National Park, Colorado, and the Appalachian Mountains.
