Robert Casilla

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of a world free of hate, prejudice, and violence. "I have a dream," he said in one of his speeches. "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they won't be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, into a world in which black children could not attend the same schools or play on the same playgrounds as white children. He spent his life peacefully fighting for the freedom and equality of all people. "We must meet hate with love," he said. In 1964, Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. His work inspired many during the civil rights movement and helped change our world for the better.
