Animal Fitness

Engage your Kindergarten through 5th grade students this activity that combines motor and listening skills. Using commonly known animals such as a fox, dog and an inchworm, students enjoy learning about the movements of various animals. The teacher demonstrates how to move and be like that animal using various exercises and students follow along. Students are able to showcase their psychomotor skills in this lesson.

Fitness Bingo

This Kindergarten through 5th grade activity puts a spin on traditional bingo.  Each student gets a fitness bingo card. Finding a new partner for each exercise, students will do the exercise then sign their partner’s paper. Students will continue this until all spots have been filled. This lesson focuses on different exercises to move the whole body (psychomotor skills) as well as team work (affective skills).

States of Matter Fitness

In this 3rd through 5th grade video, students use their science knowledge and apply it using physical activity! Learning about the stages of matter, solid, liquid and gas, students perform an exercise for each as the teacher calls out an object such as soup or fog. Students must identify each object's state of matter and perform the physical task associated with it. This lesson is great for focusing on cognitive and psychomotor skills.

Rock Paper Scissors

This Kindergarten through 5th grade activity puts a physical twist on the traditional game, rock, paper, scissors! Students get into pairs to play rock, paper, scissors. However, in this game the person who does not win the match is rewarded with exercise by doing activities such as star jumps or jumping jacks depending on the round (there are 3 rounds). Throughout the game, all students move while playing by doing things such as jogging to the cadence and using their feet instead of hands to play the game in different rounds. This lesson focuses largely on psychomotor and affective skills.

Season Fitness

Waddle

Get your students up and moving in this Kindergarten through 5th grade activity that connects literacy, creativity and movement! Students act out different animals in the book “Waddle” as the teacher reads aloud. Students listen carefully for the animal name and the verb describing how that animal moves. They then continue acting out that specific animal until the next one is read. Students love being able to do activity such as hop or crawl (psychomotor skills) as they get to act out different animals such as a frog or bear (cognitive skills).

Vacation Fitness

This Kindergarten through 5th grade activity makes for a very relatable and fun fitness activity! Students use their bodies to move through the motions of going on a vacation. Starting with picking a destination, students then act out packing, boarding the plane, and finally getting to their destination- the beach. This is an excellent psychomotor and cognitive skills activity.

Wheel of Fitness

This Kindergarten through 5th grade video is similar to Wheel of Fortune. Students are chosen to spin the Wheel of Fitness and perform the exercise shown. These movements are fun and engaging while ranging from individual, partner to group exercises that include planks, rock paper scissors while jogging and the chicken dance!

Counting By 1's, 2's, 3's, 5's, and 10's

This interactive Kindergarten through 5th grade math activity includes using different types of jumps to count. Some of the jumps used are jumping jacks and side to side jumps. As the students do different types of jumps, they count in various ways such as counting by 2’s, 3’s, and 5’s. This is a wonderful lesson combining cognitive and psychomotor skills.

Minute to Win It

This Kindergarten through 5th grade activity is based on the popular game show, Minute to Win It! Students form into groups of 4-5 and perform various exercises for one minute in order to gain points. Different exercises such as hopping on one foot and squat thrusts are worth different point values. As a bonus the last activity is worth double points. This lesson focuses on psychomotor, cognitive and affective skills.

Spanish Action Verbs

In this Kindergarten through 5th grade interactive video, students learn about Spanish action verbs while exercising! Using their cognitive skills, students listen as the Spanish teacher calls out an action verb in Spanish and then the classroom teacher says the same verb in English. Students listen closely to both and then perform the physical task, using their psychomotor skills, to do things like dance and hop. 

Mandarin Movement

In this Kindergarten through 5th grade activity, language and movement unite. There are two teachers who will read a command, once in Mandarin and once in English. The students listen to both languages and then perform what the command is. Students are asked to complete things such as sit down, stand up, stop and swim.
