Together we sing the “Hola” song, and then Sra. Alicia and Susana greet each other and sing the first verse and introduce the second verse of “Líneas,” which the students echo. Sra. Alicia introduces the Joan Miró painting “Lección de esquí” (“Ski Lesson”). She asks students to look for different types of lines in the painting and introduces the concept of shapes. As she points at a shape, she explains that a shape is the space enclosed by lines. We are further introduced to shapes by examining el cuadrado (the square) and el triángulo (the triangle). Finally, to review numbers, shapes, and sizes, Sra. Alicia sorts triangles and squares. The students are invited to count the large and small shapes. The lesson closes with the “Adios” song.

Alicia in a counting activity, review numbers up to 20 by counting 19 bears and Ricitos de Oro (19+1=20). At the end if the lesson Sra. Alicia retells the story “Ricitos de Oro y Los Tres Osos” using simple sentences and hand movements. The lesson closes with the “Adios” song.

Alicia and Susan greet each other and reread the first half of the story of Ricitos de Oro y Los Tres Osos, illustrated by Missy Miller, then continue reading until the end. Of the book. Sra. Alicia reviews the events of the story to introduce the terms primero (first), después (after), luego (later, then), and final (at the end). We then join in a counting activity, counting 19 bears and introducing the number diecinueve (nineteen), Sra. Alicia invites students to count with her. At the end of the lesson Sra. Alicia walks like the three bears: papa, mama, and osito. She invites students to mimic her steps. Students are then invited to probar (try) with her the soup bowls of each bear. The lesson closes with the “Adios” song.
