MONTANA SHAKES! DIY: Creative Design Workshop

Create puppets and and learn about Shakespeare! Unleash elementary-aged students imagination with a DIY craft project to create fairies as seen in the MONTANA SHAKES! 2016, All the West's a Stage adaptation of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

Students will:

  • Identify characters, settings, and major events from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'
  • Identify personality traits of characters from the play
  • Explore and embody different physical qualities and emotions through movement
  • Introduce and explore the concept of personification with found objects

A Midsummer Night's Dream: Shakespeare as Musical Theatre | Shakespeare in the Schools

Each fall, Shakespeare in the Schools performs in about 50 schools throughout Montana. These productions feature a professional company performing a 75-minute production of a Shakespearean play, complete with ornate costumes and scenery, followed by a Q&A session between the actors and students and a full complement of workshops. A Midsummer Night's Dream was the 2014 presentation and was captured on video by a student at the annual Elise Event fundraiser. PBS is using that student's work to provide a similar opportunity for other schools, including resources for four workshops.
