The coral reef of Isla Verde (Green Island), Puerto Rico, has great educational, social, economic, and tourism value that improves the quality of life of its residents and community. Biologist Alícia Ortiz speaks of this marine reserve which is an example of how social and community action impacts the development and survival of marine resources.

El Arrecife de Isla Verde es un pequeño componente de una cadena de arrecifes que se extienden desde el Condado hasta Piñones. En este primer episodio conoceremos sobre un esfuerzo de la comunidad, la academia y la ciencia para proteger estos arrecifes de coral como una reserva marina.

In the muncipality of Carolina in Puerto Rico, around the Isla Verde Key and in front of Point Medio is located the Isla Verde reef, exactly in the area where the two beaches in this metropolitan area are divided. The Isla Verde reef is a small component of a series of reefs extending from Condado to Piñones. In this first episode, the efforts of the community, academia, and science to protect these reefs as a marine reserve are described.
