50 States Part 2

In this 3rd through 5th grade video, students combine psychomotor skills and geography as they travel from Montana to Wyoming. As students travel from state to state, they learn regional facts and state capitals. Students perform physical tasks highlighting regional activities unique to each state such as dancing like a Rockette in New York. 

50 States Part 1

In this 3rd through 5th grade video, students travel virtually to 25 different states from Alabama to Missouri. While on their journey students explore geography, learn state capitals and interesting facts along the way. Movements are unique and incorporate highlights from each state such as surfing in California. This lesson incorporates social studies skills with psychomotor skills. 

The White House: Inside Story | Kid's State Dinner

Learn about the official Kid's State Dinner, an event that brings children with healthy recipes from around the country together at the White House to meet the First Lady and the President of the United States. 

Rappelling - Valley of Fire | Outdoor Nevada

Students will take a virtual walking tour through Valley of Fire, Nevada’s oldest and largest state park. The sandstone give the park its name because the rock appears to be on fire when the sun’s rays reflect on them. Students will write a creative writing piece about how the rock got its fire red color.

Ernie Davis

Ernie Davis grew up in Elmira playing football. In 1958, he became a running back for Syracuse University where he excelled. Davis was selected as MVP in 1960 for the vital role he played in the Cotton Bowl. In 1961, he became the first African American to receive the Heisman Trophy. By 1962, Davis was drafted into the NFL. However, soon after he was diagnosed with leukemia and as a result never played a professional game. Ernie Davis died at the age of 23 but his legacy lives on.
