## Super Fab Lab: Exploring Measurement (en Español) | Sid the Science Kid

Icon:

Miss Susie explains that non-standard measurement can be used as a scientific tool to measure without a ruler.  Watch a live action clip of students figuring out a room's size by using themselves to measure the room.  Learn how units of measurement must be the same size when conducting non-standard measurement investigations. (en Español)

## Shadow Smile! - Part 3 | Sid the Science Kid

Icon:

Join Sid and his classmates for a special field trip to the science center with Miss Susie to explore shadows. The class discovers that to make a shadow, all you need is a light source and something to block part of the path of light. The class first figures out that the object has to be in the path of light, such as sunlight, in order to create a shadow. They then come to realize that any light source can lead to a shadow as long as there is an object blocking the path!

## Susie’s Song: "A Pirate's Song" | Sid the Science Kid

Icon:

Listen as Teacher Susie sings "A Pirate's Song," a song about how to use non-standard measurement.  Hear how a ship of pirates finds a way to measure the size of a whale by using the items they have on board as units of measurement. (Spanish version available.)

## Sid’s Holiday Adventure - Part 6 | Sid the Science Kid

Sid and his friends sing a welcome song in the school yard. (Spanish version also available.)

## Let There Be Light | Sid the Science Kid

Icon:

This episode of Sid the Science Kid teaches students all about light and its sources. Sid and his friends discover that light comes from both natural sources--like the sun, and manmade sources--like flashlights and light bulbs.

## The Sticker Chart | Sid the Science Kid

Icon:

Using this resource group, students learn about documentation using charts. If Sid doesn't fill his chore chart with stickers, he'll never get a new Turbo-Robot-Rocketship toy. Sid wonders, who needs charts anyway? After a day of investigating, Sid learns that charts are great science tools that help compare and contrast all kinds of cool stuff like snacks, pets, and even chores! The resource group includes an English and Spanish version of five video clips, as well as the associated Science Adventures Curriculum Guide.

## The Whale Episode | Sid the Science Kid

Using this resource group, students learn about non-standard measurement when Sid the Science Kid tries to use a ruler to measure a whale. At school, the class learns how non-standard measurement can be used to measure just about anything. Explore how to accurately measure things with shoes, blocks, and even people! The resource group includes an English and Spanish version of 6 video clips, as well as the associated Science Adventures Curriculum Guide.
